Happy New Year 2012

Happy New Year! We did something that we had not done in a number of years, sang out the old year and sing in the new. We were at Midway Baptist Church in Trussville, AL on New Years eve. We had a good crowd and got to meet some new friends and spend the remainder of 2011 with some of Unity's friends and supporters. The Carroll Family were singing with us, they are a family Bluegrass Gospel group from the Gadsden, AL area. I had a great time listening to them play as they have some outstanding musicians in the band. This will be the final new years service in 56 years for this church, they have decided to close the church and sell the property. It is sad to see a church going out of business. The year, 2011 was one of change for Unity. We saw James Brown leave to become full time care giver for his wife, Darlene. Doyle McLain retired and that meant we also lost our administrative assistant, Mary McLain. As one leaves the group, God always sends a replacement. We welcomed Eric Cookston on as our full time piano player, as we move forward You will see his role with the group expand. We also got his wife, my sister, Linda Cookston as our new administrative assistant. We welcomed Ron Hughes back from some health issues and he is stronger than ever. Our final addition was Jerry Atnip as our new bass singer. Jerry made his debut on new years eve and did a fantastic job. We also saw the final payment made on our bus. This had been a major expense for many years. We are looking to go back into the recording studio in early 2012 to record a new CD project. We thank You for your support and prayers. We look forward to seeing you all soon. May God bless you and your family in 2012.
